USBCHA National Sheepdog Finals Entry – United States Border Collie Handlers Association

General Information

Entries must be postmarked or submitted, and fees submitted before August 1, 2023. No exceptions. Payment can be via check or PayPal. You can send in the on-line entry form and mail check separately-Do put name of your dog/s on the check. If mailing:

The cost is $250 per open entry, $150 per nursery. Note for PayPal payments there is a non-refundable fee charged by PayPal

If a dog is on the waiting list, please send a separate check to make refunds easier.

Refunds: All refunds for entries will be processed within 30 days after the trial.
For refunds issued via PayPal, convenience fees will be deducted from the total refunded amount. Any scratches after August 20th, 2023 will receive refunds only for medical, veterinary or other emergency at the discretion of the USBCHA. Any dog on the open waiting list that does not move into the run order, will receive a refund.

Camping refunds will be at the discretion of the trial committee

Note: checks will not be cashed until after deadline for refunds, August 20th. Checks for dogs on the waiting list will not be cashed until dog has moved into run order. Checks will be destroyed if wait list dog does not run.

Waiting List: Open Dogs with the top 150 points will be entered in the Open finals. All dogs tied at the 150 level will be entered. All other entered open dogs will be placed on the waiting list and will move into the entries in order of points if there is a scratch in the entered list.

The waiting list will be updated on the website beginning July 1. After September 20th, handlers who wish to remain on the waiting list must sign up with the USBCHA Secretary.

Handlers, wishing to remain on the waitlist at the Finals, must sign in with the secretary no later than 5 PM on the day before Finals. Sign in may be done in person, by proxy or electronically. It is the handler’s responsibility to ensure secretary receives notice prior to the deadline.

Scratches will be filled daily up to 30 minutes prior to the first open run of the day, in order of earned qualifying points and based on the wait list compiled as stated above. Good sportsmanship requires handlers to notify secretary of scratches in a timely manner to allow secretary to fill in scratched slots in the run order.

Handler must be a current ABCA member to compete in the National Finals. Contact ABCA at abca@americanbordercollie.org to join if you are not a current member. You may enter once your ABCA membership application has been submitted.

Photo & Video Release

By entering the USBCHA National Sheepdog Finals, you are agreeing to the following terms: As a condition for participating in the National Finals, I hereby grant the USBCHA permission to the rights of my image, likeness and sound of my voice as recorded on audio or video tape or photograph recorded by the USBCHA and/or its designee at any time during the National Sheepdog Finals without payment or any other consideration.

I understand that my image may be edited, copied, exhibited, published or distributed by the USBCHA and/or its designee, and I waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein my likeness appears.

Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of my image or recording. There is no time limit on the validity of this release nor is there any geographic limitation on where these materials may be distributed.

This release applies to photographic, audio or video recordings collected as part of the National Sheepdog Finals.

Registration is not required for open dogs but is necessary for pedigree information to be published and to be eligible for extra prize money from ABCA. A copy of registration can be mailed or emailed to USBCHA Secretary or attached below.

You can replace one of your open dogs only if your alternate dog has more points than next dog on the waiting list. You can do replacement before first open run at finals. There is no additional fee for alternate dog.
