USBCHA OFFICER ELECTIONS
Nominations for the USBCHA Officers and Webmaster will be accepted beginning Today. It is a two-year term. Nominees/Officers are not required to be an elected member of the Board of Directors. Nominations may be communicated to any current Officer or Board member or email Linda DeJong at secretary@usbcha.com. Nominations should include some general information about the Nominee and should address the requirements set forth in the Officer Duties below.
The following pages outline the duties of the various officers and the Webmaster. Please note that, beginning January 1, 2017, the Secretary became a paid position. The Secretary receives $0.50 from each sanctioning fee paid for sheepdog trials. Currently, the Secretary is spending in excess of 20 hours a week on Association business.
The HA reimburses costs attending The Finals (airfare, hotels, meals, transportation) as well as office supplies and phone charges for all Officers. With some exceptions, all Officers are expected to attend the Sheepdog Finals.
The relevant provision of the bylaws with respect to timing for nominations is set forth below. Nominations are due by October 5. The Directors vote in early November.
Bylaws, Article V, 5.2:
- Election and Term of Office: The Board of Directors shall select from the membership the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer to serve for a period of two (2) years. The Board of Directors shall elect the officers of the Association by majority vote. Nominations for officers shall be made no later than October 5th during the final year of the officer’s term. The election shall occur promptly after that time and shall be final no later than November 5th of the final year of the officer’s term. Officers and Directors shall assume their new posts on the first day of January.
